Cleanse the Liver Twice a Year

If you have never done a liver cleanse you will need to do one each month until you see no stones for two months in a row, then do a cleanse once every six months to keep your liver/gall bladder clean.

Liver Cleanse Preparation

It is always best to have the organs of elimination in a healthy condition as they really support the cleansing of the liver.  Taking a good probiotic is always good preparation, as is making sure that the kidneys are in a healthy condition as well.  Another option is to do a parasite cleanse at some point as most people have parasites, that can clog up the bile ducts as well.  I recommend doing a parasite cleanse, heavy metal cleanse and candida cleanse (if you have candida) along with the liver cleanse the first time and then one time every six months.  See me for recommended supplements.


  • Epsom Salts: 4 tablespoons.  Can add lemon or lime and stevia to taste.
  • Olive Oil:  ½ cup (light olive oil is easier to get down – light means not as strong tasting olive oil) (Note: if you are a blood type “A” you can do less of the oil – 2/3 of the ½ cup is adequate as type “A’s seem to be more sensitive to oil).
  • Fresh pink or red grapefruit: 1 large or 2 small, enough to squeeze 2/3 to ¾ cup of juice.
  • Large plastic straw to drink the potion.
  • Glass

Choose a day like Saturday, for the cleanse, since you will be able to rest the next day.

Take no medicines, vitamins or pills that you can do without; they could prevent success.

Eat a no-fat breakfast and lunch, such as cooked cereal with fruit, bread and preserves or honey (no butter or milk), baked potato or other vegetables with salt only. Eat as many apples as you want, as they really help the process.  This allows the bile to build up and develop pressure in the liver.  Higher pressure pushes out more stones.  Also, avoid meat just for that day so the liver can really do its job.  You can have a protein drink – just no soy – please.  Whey or Egg protein powder is fine.  Light white chicken or turkey and light fish is fine in small amounts.

2:00 P.M.  Do not eat after 2 o’clock.  It is preferable to eat your lunch at 1:45 as you will not eat after 2:00 pm.  You can drink herbal teas or lemon or lime in water with a little stevia when you are thirsty.  If you break this rule you could feel ill later.

Get your Epsom salts ready.  Mix 4 tablespoons in 3 cups water and pour this into a jar.  This makes four servings, ¾ cup each.  Set the jar in the refrigerator to get ice cold (this is for convenience and taste only).  You can add one to two teaspoons of lemon to minimize the bitter taste and I add a little stevia to sweeten it as well.

6:00 P.M.  Drink one serving (3/4 cup) of the ice cold Epsom salts. If you did not prepare this ahead of time, mix 1 tablespoon in ¾ cup water now.  You many also drink a few mouthfuls of water afterwards or rinse your mouth.  I don’t like the taste of Epsom salts, so I just hold my nose and drink fast.  Add one lime or lemon squeezed into the full amount with stevia to sweeten – not bad that way.

8:00 P.M.  Drink another ¾ cup of the Epsom Salts. You haven’t eaten since two o’clock, but you will not feel hungry.  Get your bedtime chores done.  The timing is critical for success; don’t be more than 10 minutes early or late.

9:45 P.M. Pour ½ cup light olive oil into your glass.  Squeeze the grapefruit by hand into the measuring cup.  Remove pulp with fork.  You should have at least ½ cup; more (up to ¾ cup) is best.  You many top it up with lemonade.  Add this to the olive oil.  Stir vigorously or put in a jar with lid and shake.   I found this much more palatable than I thought it would be.  It mixes well and tastes good.

Now visit the bathroom one or more times, even if it makes you late for your ten o’clock drink.  Don’t be more than 15 minutes late.

10:00 P.M.  Drink the potion you have mixed.  Drinking through a large plastic straw helps it go down easier.  Take it to your bedside if you want, but drink it standing up.  Get it down within 5 minutes   (Fifteen minutes for very elderly or weak persons).

Lie down immediately.    You might fail to get stones out if you don’t.  The sooner you lie down the more stones you will get out. Be ready for bed ahead of time.  As soon as the drink is down go to bed and lie down on your right side for 20 minutes.  Think about what is happening in your liver.  Try to keep perfectly still for at least 20 minutes. You may feel a train of stones traveling along the bile ducts like marbles. There is no pain, because the bile duct valves are open, (thank you Epsom salts!).  Now relax and go to sleep.

Next morning.  Upon awakening take your third dose of Epsom salts.  If you have indigestion or nausea, (no one has yet),  wait until it is gone before drinking the Epsom salts. You may go back to bed. Don’t take this potion before 6:00 A.M.

2 hours later.  Take your fourth (the last) dose of Epsom salts.  Drink ¾ cup of the mixture. You may go back to bed.

After 2 more hours.  You may now eat.  Start with something light.  One hour later you may eat regular food, but keep it light.  By dinner you should feel recovered.

How well did you do after your Liver Cleanse

Expect diarrhea in the morning.  You will not have warning pains such as in normal diarrhea, so if you even think you have an urge, honor it and head for the bathroom.  Your bowel movement will be quite watery, so it is easy to see the gallstones in the toilet as they float due to the cholesterol inside.  Look for gallstones, most are pea green.  Only bile from the liver is pea green, so these are the easiest to notice.  Some are small flat pea shapes while others may be the same color but much larger.  (You will see larger ones typically on the second liver cleanse.)

Other stones may be tan and look like hardened crystals as they have now calcified.  Some people report various color stones as well.  You may see dead parasites.  Some look like small immature citrus seeds and are tan in color.   Notice how many stones are shaped like corks with longitudinal grooves below the tops.  We can visualize the blocked bile ducts from such shapes.  Count them all roughly, whether tan or green.

You will need to total 2000 stones before the liver is clean enough to rid you of allergies, toxins, bursitis or upper back pains permanently.  The first cleanse may rid you of them for a few days, but as the stones from the rear travel forward, they give you the same symptoms again. It is best to perform the cleanse every two – three weeks until you see no stones.  Never cleanse when you are sick.

Another bonus of the cleanse is that is can greatly help with hormonal issues.  The liver is where you conjugate your hormones, which means that the used ones are eliminated and the remaining vital ones are recirculated.  The liver is also where you make your most powerful thyroid hormone, so if it is toxic this can be hampered.  Weight loss is difficult with a toxic liver as well.

Sometimes the bile ducts are full of cholesterol crystals that did not form into round stones.  They appear as chaff floating on top of the toilet bowl water.  It may be tan colored, harboring millions of tiny white crystals.  Cleaning this chaff is just as important as purging stone.

How safe is the liver cleanse?   It is very safe.  I got this cleanse from Dr. Hulda Clark who researched liver cleanses and found this one to work the best.  It is reported to be several hundred to several thousands of years old.  She gives credit to the herbalists for this cleanse.   Her research was based on over 500 cases, including many persons in their seventies and eighties.  None went to the hospital; none even reported pain.  She recommends doing the kidney and parasite cleanse first, but I have not found this to be necessary.  Many of my clients have done this cleanse and felt so much better.


You have cleansed your liver enabling it to be far more effective in detoxifying your body.   It has so many advantages for your health and should be done at least two times per year.

It is best to do the cleanse each month until you see no stones for two months.  Some people do not see any stones the first try – which means you really need to do it again in one month.
